Branding · Logo · GIF · Collaboration
This project was created in collaboration with two other classmates during our Design Team class. We were assigned a student culinary team from our school and were tasked with creating a logo, signage, social media, and other promotional collateral for their pop-up grand opening. Our team created a menu inspired by Japanese comfort foods. Their target audience was Japanese families moving from California to Austin, Texas. They wanted a simple logo featuring classic Japanese imagery and using traditional colors.
Each team member created and presented our own logos, and ultimately my logo and branding were chosen by the chef team. While looking for inspiration I searched for imagery that felt simple but refined. As a child, I would sit by my family’s koi pond and take in the scenery of our backyard. That sense of peace is what I wanted to bring to this project. Two contrasting koi with light and dark colors, and are placed in a circular position as a subtle representation of yin and yang.

In this project I was asked to create a logo and branding package for a friend who started a new business. This project then grew to include apparel, car wraps, stickers, invoices, and a mock website for future use.
